Former Devics vocalist Sara Lov just released her debut full-length solo album Seasoned Eyes Were Beaming. The album carries on the tinkling dream pop sound of Lov’s past.

The breezy opener “Just Beneath the Clouds” calls to mind Devics and Eisley, while “Frankie” is a slightly (and only slightly) more grounded piano ballad reminiscent of The Sundays. “Tell Me How” has a more interesting Mazzy Star sway to it.

“A Thousand Bees” is the stand out, finally anchoring Sara’s gossamer voice with a melody of substance. Somber verses burst into an airy chorus.

The album’s title track is a smooth electro-acoustic pop ballad. Lovely sparse piano versions of “Seasoned Eyes Were Beaming” and “New York” first appeared on Lov’s Young Eyes EP. Though the originals may have been a better showcase of Sara’s voice, I think the new flushed out arrangements make for stronger songs.

The rest of the songs are pretty, but indistinct. If you like Sara’s voice, you’ll like the entire album.
