Contrast Podcast: Best of 2010 (So Far)

You can hear my voice in the new edition of Contrast Podcast, which has the theme “Best of 2010 (So Far).” My pick was Anaïs Mitchell’s Hadestown album (click title for my review) and I submitted the 100% legal, label-authorized mp3 “Flowers (Eurydice Song).” Hadestown will almost certainly still be my #1 album of 2010 at the end of the year.

  1. i follow so many female artists, including anais mitchell, and have for so long – it simply amazes me what slips between the cracks, despite my dilligence. hadestown came at me totally from left field. i fear i’d have missed it alltogether had it not been for your earlier review. what a hauntingly moving work, and the song ‘flowers’ is, in my humble opinion, it’s best piece. such sweet gothic poetry flows from the lips of this woman i’d, much to my shame, never have expected it from. the song runs a beautiful shiver up my spine and a mess of black sugar oozing from my (would be lips) ears. i’m utterly strewn. thank you so much for tossing out what, to me at least, turned into a most gorgeous curve ball. xx -frank-
