Foggy Mountain Special: A Bluegrass Tribute to Earl Scruggs

I don’t generally consider myself a Bluegrass fan. It’s one of those genres, like Country and Jazz, that I’m very selective about. But thanks to reruns of The Beverly Hillbillies, I did grow up liking Earl Scruggs. His playing was always smooth and peppy, not at all grating like some of his contemporaries. The new Foggy Mountain Special tribute to the legendary banjo player lives up to his substantial legacy. It’s a buoyant and fun collection featuring Tom Adams, Ron Block, J.D. Crowe and many more. You can stream the entire album at Soundcloud.
