Canadian singer-songwriter Tatam Reeves plays quiet, unassuming but nontheless substantial folk-pop. You can download his entire Home EP at Soundcloud. I especially like the songs “The Note” and “Passenger.” The latter is the best example of what Tatam calls his “boom bap folk music.”
Amber’s new EP, Noah, is a lovely piece of work that leaves you wanting much more. The British band’s soft folk-rock sound recalls The Lumineers’ more morose songs. You can stream the entire EP, download a free, legal mp3 of the song “Little Ghost” and watch the title track video below.
Blue & Gold have released a new track, “It’s Only You.” I like this bluesy rock ballad even better than their previous single, “Ghost Man“. Both songs are featured on Blue & Gold’s new, self-titled EP.
Banditos are an independent, brilliant, bluesy, rowdy, genre-hopping band from Birmingham, Alabama. Their cited influences include everyone from Aretha Franklin to Hank Williams, Sr. to Squirrel Nut Zippers, but frontwoman Mary Beth Richardson’s howl and the band’s rough, rustic rock instrumentation could just as easily be compared to Janis Joplin, Heartless Bastards and/or Alabama Shakes. You can download their six-song, self-titled EP (it’s name your own price, so just enter $0 to download for free) and watch the video for the standout track “No Good” below. If you have good taste in music, you will love this band.
