My new favorite song, and not just because Murúch is the Irish word for mermaid. I’ve been listening to Swedish singer Skott’s “Mermaid” on repeat for several days now, and she just released the official video. Skott’s melodic music has a dark, slightly eerie undercurrent beneath her lovely, lilting soprano. She was raised in remote forest community run by a collection of outcast folk musicians and, whether by nature or nurture, her sound is exquisite and unique. Skott’s full-length debut album will be released in 2018 and will certainly be one of my most anticipated releases next year.
Skott is currently on tour. She is opening for Phantogram in select cities this summer and MØ this fall.
